Project Maintenance

Repairing Projects

When to Repair a Project

Repair your project if you experience any of the following:

  • Project loading errors
  • Missing file references
  • Corrupted data
  • Unexpected behavior

How to Repair

  1. Open the project you want to repair
  2. In the main menu, click Save
  3. Click Repair project
  4. Follow any prompts to review or confirm changes

Recommendation: Always create a backup before repairing.

Cleaning Up Projects

Project Cleanup

Remove unused data and optimize the project file size:

  1. In the main menu, click Save
  2. Click Clean up project
  3. Follow any additional prompts to review or confirm changes

When Cleanup is Useful

  • After you've removed slides without removing the underlying images
  • When the project folder contains files that are no longer in use
  • Before sharing projects with others
  • After a major reorganization

💡 Tip: The cleanup process does not remove file types that Album3D doesn't recognize. To ensure all unused files are removed, you can save the project in an empty folder.

Best Practices

  • Make regular backups of your project folders, especially before using Repair project or Clean up project.
  • Keep each Album3D project and its media files together in a dedicated folder.
  • Avoid renaming or moving image and media files outside of Album3D once they’re in use.
  • Periodically run Clean up project on long‑lived or heavily edited projects to keep file size manageable.
