Menus & Toolbars
This page is a reference for Album3D's main menus and toolbars. Use it to find where album, slide, and view tools live in the UI. For task‑focused guides, see Albums & Slides and Edit Mode & Tools.
Main Menu
The Main menu gives access to global project commands and Edit mode:
Main tab
- Edit / Edit Off / Edit Mode toggle – turn Edit mode on or off. When Edit mode is on, the Edit toolbar appears and you can reposition slides and edit slide information. See Edit Mode & Tools.
- Open – open a project file (
.album3d-x) or package (.album3d). - Save – save the project (
.album3d-x) or package (.album3d). - New – create a new project (
.album3d-x). - Import Images... – open the IMPORT IMAGES dialog. See Importing Images.
- Demo – play, pause, or stop the demo. See Viewing Modes.
- More... – open a dialog with additional project‑level tools and dialogs.
- ? - show help for Album3D.
- Quit - quit the app.
Quality tab
Set quality settings for the current project:
- Quality Level – overall graphics preset that adjusts multiple quality options at once.
- VSync – synchronize frame rate with the display refresh to reduce tearing (can limit FPS). ON is recommended.
- Windowed Mode – choose between fullscreen, borderless, or windowed display. If you play audio outside of the app and notice audio stuttering, try using windowed mode instead of fullscreen.
- Resolution – set the output resolution of the window or display.
- Anti-Alias – smooth jagged edges on geometry; higher values improve quality at a performance cost.
- Render Scale – render internally at a lower or higher resolution than the window for performance vs. sharpness trade‑offs.
- Anisotropic Filtering Mode – enable/disable sharper texture filtering, especially at oblique viewing angles.
- Anisotropic Filtering Level – control how strong anisotropic filtering is; higher levels keep textures sharper at distance.
- Reset to Defaults – restore quality settings to their original defaults.
- ? - show help for Album3D.
- Quit - quit the app.
License tab
- Album3D version - show the Album3D version number.
- Theme version, ID, name - show the theme version, ID, and name.
- License – show the license information.
- Third-Party Notices... - show the third-party notices.
- Accept / OK - accept the license.
- Album3D.com - open the Album3D website.
- Exit - quit the app.
Album Management Icon
After clicking the album management icon, you will see the following options:
Album selector
- Shows the current album name.
- Open the dropdown to switch between albums in the project.
- The current album is the target for actions such as Delete Album, Copy to Album, and Delete from Album.
World & Game (coming soon)
- Select the world or game to use for the current album. This feature is coming soon.
Album menu: album management & slide operations (no Edit mode required)
Album menu commands work in both normal viewing and Edit mode—you do not need Edit mode just to manage albums or copy/delete slides to or from other albums:
- New | Dup... Album – create a new empty album or duplicate the current album. When you choose Dup..., a popup asks whether to duplicate the album or start from a new empty album.
- Delete Album – remove the current album. This deletes its slides but not the underlying source image files.
- Rename Album – change the album name shown in the UI.
- Move Album Up / Move Album Down – reorder albums in the project.
- Delete from Album – remove selected slides from the current album only (the slides remain available in other albums that use the same images).
- Copy to Album – copy selected slides into another album.
- Copy to Folder (some builds) – copy the source image files for the selected slides to a filesystem folder without changing the project itself. It is grouped here next to Copy to Album for convenience.
For album‑management workflows and step‑by‑step instructions on copying or deleting slides, see Albums & Slides.
View / Layout Toolbar
The view / layout toolbar lets you choose how slides are presented in 3D:
- Switch between views/layouts, which determine the 3D arrangement of slides and optionally the surrounding 3D environment. The layout stays the same when you switch media sets or albums.
- Adjust how many slides are visible at once and how they’re arranged in space.
For concepts around views and media sets, see Media Sets & Views.
Slideshow Toolbar
The slideshow toolbar controls are accessible in the bottom-left corner of the viewer. With them you can:
- Start, pause, and stop slideshow playback.
- Step to the next or previous slide.
- Access options that affect slideshow behavior (for example, looping in the current media set or playback speed).
For details on viewing modes, see Viewing Modes.
Info & Edit Toolbars
Album3D uses dedicated toolbars for inspecting and editing slides:
- Slide info panel – shows key details about the selected slide, including the Description field, Slide Position, Slide ID, and a toolbar with extra tools. See Slide descriptions. The extra tools are:
- Toolbar icon – opens the same dialog as the More... button in the main menu.
- SOURCE FILE LOAD OPTIONS – choose whether to automatically load source files when you select a slide. See Tips & Best Practices. From here you can also access ADVANCED FILE LOADING OPTIONS to load all source images at once.
- Show Source Image icon – opens the source image for the current slide in a new window. If there is an issue with the source image, it shows a message instead.
- Edit toolbar – appears when Edit mode is enabled and provides tools for changing slide positions, default arrangement, descriptions, and slide/photo IDs. See Edit Mode & Tools.
